Obituary of Carl P Jones Sr.

 Carl Persel Jones Sr. 62 ,of Durham,NC departed this earth on Saturday, December 15, 2018 in Duke Medical Pavilion. The youngest of 6 children , was born November 26, 1956 to Rev. Arthur and Louise Freeman Jones. Born and raised in Warren County, NJ, Carl was educated through Mansfield Township school system and Warren Hills School district where he graduated in 1975. He then continued his education briefly at County College of Morris. Carl professed his faith to God early in life and was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Anderson in Port Murray, NJ. He served as a dedicated trustee and chairman of the men’s prayer group. When he moved to Durham, NC he visited different apostolic churches as he had a love for what he called a “jumpin church”.
    Carl enlisted into the United States Airforce in 1977 and worked as an Airman first class until he was honorably discharged in 1983.
In 1984 he married Janice Burris and from that union he had two children Erica Janelle and Carl P. Jones Jr.
   Carl was a meter reader and then a lineman for Jersey Central Power and Light for many years until his medical retirement in 2002. He was always full of joy ,never met a stranger and had a knack for learning as he enrolled into Warren County Community College in his early 50’s.
If people were laughing you knew Carl was in the room as there was never a dull moment in his presence. He loved the NY Giants, UNC and his friends but nothing compared to his love for the grand babies. He would light up just talking about them.
    He was preceded in death by his parents , brothers Charles and Aaron and sister ( newborn)
Carl leaves to cherish his memories daughter Erica Jones, Durham NC, Son Carl Jones Jr , Easton PA, grandchildren Cameron Jones Janiyah Jones and Ahsha Hilliard all of Durham NC and London Hammond Phillipsburg, NJ
Sisters Deb Murphy Phillipsburg, NJ and Arvelya Jordan (husband Michael ) Washington NJ nephew Joseph Murphy. He also leaves great nieces and nephews ,cousins and a host of loving friends.

Local funeral services will be held Saturday December 22nd 2018  at 11AM in the 1st Baptist Church 150 Jackson Street, Port Murray NJ. Interment in the Summerfield Cemetery, White Twp NJ.
