Lucy Bitting

Obituary of Lucy Bitting

Lucy Bitting entered her eternal life on February 6th, with her daughter Michele in her arms, after losing her second battle with cancer. Lucy resided in Hampton, New Jersey. She was born in Freemansburg, Pa. to the late Sandor Gergar and Fannie (Fujsz) Gergar. Lucy was the wife of the late Melvin A. Bitting following 50 years of marriage. Lucy was a silk spinner at Laros Silk Mills in her early days. She was considered the best silk spinner of the factory. She then became a homemaker and raised her two children. Her greatest joy was motherhood and she always said she wished her children were small again so she could raise them all over. She loved to crochet and enjoyed puzzle books. Lucy enjoyed dancing to polkas and knew every dance step to every song. She enjoyed country western music and adored Charley Pride. Lucy got to see him perform in the 1980‘s at Hunter Mountain, where she stood ten feet away from the stage. She had the pleasure of handing him him a white rose at the performance. Lucy loved creating crock pots dinners and loved sharing with her neighbors. She found peace in playing and holding her cats and enjoyed teaching her parrot new songs.
