Obituary of William Pierce
William E. "Bill" Pierce, age 70 of Asbury, NJ passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg, NJ.
Bill was born on December 2, 1940 in Phillipsburg, NJ. He was the son of the late Mr. Andrew Pierce and Mrs. Evelyn (nee Metz).
He was a retired self employed carpenter. He was married for ten years, but was together for 24 years to Dorothy " Dot" VanDuyne Hoover Pierce. He loved his wife, antiques, his family and his best friend Rich.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was the best fisherman on the Asbury Bridge in Asbury, NJ and also enjoyed taking care of his piegons and chickens.
He is survived by his loving wife; Dorothy "Dot" Pierce of ten years. He is also survived by a daughter; Catherine and her husband Alberto Estrada of Arkansas, a son; William and his wife Nicole of Oklahoma,three step-children; Tammy Godley and husband Bill of Easton, PA, Kenny Hoover and his fiancee Barbara of Phillipsburg, NJ, and Kevin Hoover and his wife Lynn of Easton, PA, two grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, one great-grandson, and six step-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother; Andrew " Jimmy" and a sister; Betty.
A visistation will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at the DeVoe Funeral Service, Inc., 136 West Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. A service will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Washington Cemetery, Washington, NJ.
