Obituary of June Fox
June B. Fox, 88, formerly of Washington NJ, died Sunday December 27, 2009 at Moravian Hall Square in Nazareth Pa.
Born October 18, 1921 in Washington, NJ, she was a daughter of the late William and Mary Catherine (Kelson) Bamford. She lived most of her life in Washington, moving to Bradenton, FL in 2000 and then to Nazareth, PA in 2007 where she and her husband Kenneth were residents of Moravian Hall Square.
She was a 1938 graduate of Washington High School, graduating at age 16.
She and her husband were married for 69 years. For many years they owned and operated Fox's Liquor Store in Washington which was started right after prohibition in 1934 by Kenneth's parents, Claude and Nellie Fox. It was the first liquor store license issued in Warren County.
She was a 60+ year member of the Order of Eastern Star # 136 in Washington, NJ. She was a past Worthy Matron and a former District Deputy of the 13th District.
She was a long time member of the United Methodist Church in Washington, NJ. She was a member of the founding board of the Washington Childrens Choir School. She and her husband were avid golfers. They enjoyed playing many different courses across the country. They also enjoyed taking cruises which included Alaska, Antarctica and the Panama Canal.
Surviving are her husband, Kenneth, a daughter, Patricia Warne of Washington, NJ, two grandchildren, Dr. Gregory Warne of Oriskany, NY and Lori Ann Warne of Sinking Spring, PA, two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Kiera Warne, three brothers, William Bamford of Schroon Lake, NY, Dale Bamford of Washington, NJ and Neil Bamford of Perry, GA, a sister, Fern Ball of Springville, PA, and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by a brother, Kaye and two sisters Sue Bamford and Betty Bamford Roemer.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday at 4:00 pm in the DeVoe Funeral Service 136 West Washington Ave, Washington NJ. A time of visitation will be held from 3:00-4:00 pm on Wednesday.
