Virginia Mingus (Hawkins)
Virginia M. Mingus 90, of Belvidere, New Jersey, formerly of Bucyrus, Ohio, passed away June 7, 2018 in New Jersey where she resided the past 4 years with her daughter.
Virginia was born June 4, 1928 in Crawford County to Herbert C. Hawkins and Modest Hawkins (Miller). She was a 1946 graduate of Holmes Liberty School. In 1948, she married Edward J. Kottyan,they later divorced. In 1972, she married Carl G. Mingus. He preceded her in death in 2011. In 2014, Virginia moved to New Jersey to live with her daughter at age 86, "before she got old" - as she stated.
Virginia cleaned homes in Bucyrus for over 35 years, for many families, always taking pride in her work and becoming part of their families. She will be remembered for her "upbeat" personality, always singing, smiling and making people laugh with her wonderful sense of humor.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl, a brother Richard Hawkins and sisters Phyllis Nelson and Grace Sand. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Cundiff and spouse Terri Byrne, grandsons Dustin Cundiff of Bucyrus and Jordan Cundiff (Britta) of Belvidere, New Jersey. Six great grand children, Hayden, Ally and Ava Cundiff of Bucyrus and Andy, Nikolai and Arabella Cundiff of Belvidere, New Jersey. Also surviving is her sister Joyce (Ralph) Kennedy, sister in-law Suzanne Hawkins and brother in-law Bob Sand, all of Bucyrus and many nieces and nephews - and her beloved cats Myah and Honey.
Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family, in Oceola Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Virginia's memory to the Humane Society of Crawford County or the Bucyrus Public Library. "Absent from the body, but present with the Lord!"
