Mrs. Hayes was a women of incredible spiritual beauty. She is a true example of what "grace" means, as she was a gift from God to our community that went far beyond what we were deserving of. One of my parents best friends! Comforting to know that she and Gwen and mom and dad are rejoicing in the presence of their Savior!! Blessings. Tim Duryea

Although I did not know Mrs. Hayes, it is easy to see in her obituary at least one of the streams that has nurtured her wonderful granddaughter, Rev. Erin Hayes-Cook. My sympathy to all Mrs. Hayes' family, and I hope they are comforted by the same faith that she exhibited.

Dear family and friends of Mary Hayes:
We will always hold her near and dear to our hearts. God's Word said to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. I know she is with Him in the place that He has prepared. God will never leave us or forsake us as we carry on in the land of the living. Only trust and believe. I pray that He gives you His peace as you face this difficult time.

Although there were miles between us, you were still in our hearts. I remember the first time my family and I attended the First Baptist Church of Andersen. You and Dr. Gwen were two of the first people to welcome us with open arms. Not too long after, I got the flu. While I was home in the bed in an effort to get better, my door bell rang. When I finally made it to the door, there was a bag from QuikCheck that had a large cup of soup and a container of orange juice. It was not until some time later that I learned it was you who had done such a wonderfully loving thing. From these encounters, you and Dr. Gwen have had and will always have a deep place in our hearts. I know when our Heavenly Father called you home, He said, "Come my child, in whom I am well pleased". I know you and Dr. Gwen are dancing in Heaven. I pray that when my time comes, that I make it in the gate so that I can dance with you ladies. Our love always to you and your family and may God, in the name of Jesus, bring peace and comfort to them all as they go through this journey.

To the Hayes family,
My sincere condolences. Aunt Dolly as we all called her was a great role model. She helped shape our religious and cultural awareness, in so many ways. Even though she had her own life, she shared herself unselfishly with the children of Andersontown. May she rest easy. Well done! A life of faith and service. Gwennie.

Deaconess Hayes was an invaluable and indispensable part of our ministry at First Baptist Church because of her profound commitment to Christ and His church. "Dolly" will always hold a special place in our hearts, along with Elry. Despite the millions who have made it to heaven, we are sure you will find both of them in the Throne Room at Christ's feet.

As parents, we were privileged to know Mary, and to have her teach our children. She was truly a special person. We used to say "Every school should have a Mary Hayes--if only we could clone her." The Heavenly Choir is happy to have her with them!

My heart is broken. I am the person I am today because of mrs. Hayes. She believed in me when no one else did. She would tell me how smart I was and that I could do anything I only had to try. I would see her often over the years and always was greeted with a hug hello Darlene and mention how much she enjoyed having me as a student. We would talk about acting and how proud she was to have had me. I love you mrs Hayes you were an angel on earth. Thanks for believing in me. I now have an angel in heaven to watch over me!!!
