Obituary of Carlotta Steinhardt
Carlotta C Steinhardt 97 of White Twp NJ formerly of Washington NJ died on August 22 in St Lukes of Warren, Phillipsburg NJ.
Born in Somerville NJ April 11, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Marjorie (Aten) Crater.
Carlotta was a graduate of Hampton High School and Churchman's Business College.
Mrs. Steinhardt was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Washington NJ. She also supported many charities and had an affection for animals.
Her loving husband Joseph preceded her in death in 2002. Mr. Steinhardt was a local baseball coach and teacher at Washington High School/Warren Hills Regional High School. Additionally, he worked as an NCAA football official. Carlotta and Joe spent their lives surrounded by students and athletes. Like her husband, Carlotta remembered each young person with whom they had the opportunity to work. She took great pride and found comfort in the legacy he left behind and still enjoyed spending time with former students who became lifelong friends. Carlotta was an avid reader of athlete biographies, loved her sports and was a mentor to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they pursued their own athletics, and always reinforced the values and dedication for which Mr. Steinhardt was remembered. Carlotta was a diehard New York Mets and New York Giants fan.
Surviving are her son Joseph of Belvidere, NJ and his wife Therese, grandson Douglas and his wife Trudy of Lopatcong Twp., granddaughter Susan and her husband James Smith of Knowlton Twp, great-grandson Douglas Jr and great-granddaughter Tia both of Lopatcong Twp.
Two brothers Rev. Warren H.Crater and Richard V. Crater preceded her in death.
