Obituary of Gwendolyn Roquemore
Sunrise on a June 10th, Gwendolyn Sarah Robindon was born to Theodore and Lela Robinson. She wsa the second child of five. She was a Christian, untiring in her efforts to do the heavenly Fathers's business. She had a sense of adventure that took her many places the meet and impact the lives of many people. She started her educational journey at Demarest Elementary School in Bloomfield, N.J. She completed her secondary education at Hackettstown High School. She was one of the first African American women to attend Douglass College where she majored in psychology. She went on to achieve a M.E.D. from Rutgers University, a Masters degree from Kean College, and a PhD from Atlanta University, Atlanta, Georgia.
She was predeceased by two husbands, Melvin F. Johnston and Clarence J. Roquemore. She leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Shaar Johnston, two sisters, Mary Hayes and Dr. Gloria Thomas, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Anderson, NJ on July 24th, 2015 at 11:00am.
