Obituary of Harold W. Brunkhorst
Harold W Brunkhorst aged 92 passed away quietly in his home February 20 2016, after a long illness, with the care of hospice, his caretaker and his family.
He was born in Union City May 16, 1923, the son of Elizabeth and William Brunkhorst. He had four brothers; William(D), Ed-his twin(D),Paul(D) and Richard.
He fought in WWII and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
After the war he attended the Parsons School of Design and the Art Students League, of which he was a life member. In 1948 he married the former Frances DeLuca and had four children. He was a longtime employee and retiree of M&M Mars where he worked as a candy coater..
He. Is survived by his loving wife, Frances, his children, Karen Trawin and her partner Robert DeLellis, Jennifer Brunkhorst, Martha Brunkhorst and her partner Lucy Kavas, Christopher Brunkhorst and his wife Diane Steets, his three grandchildren Nicholas Trawin and his wife Sara, David Trawin and his wife Karell, and Daniel Trawin. He had five great grandchildren- Isaiah, Sofa, Natalie and Nina Trawin and Olli Roxas Trawin. Also survived by his brother Richard Brunkhorst and his wife Betty and his ten nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren.
He will be interred at the Northern New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery privately at his request. Donations can be sent in his name to Karen Quinlan Hospice or the Disabled American Veterans.
