Regina, my friend, it is never easy to lose someone you love, but it is especially difficult when that person is your child. Whether the child is 2 or 32 the pain is the same. I understand this and my heart breaks for you. Although the pain will never completely go away, it will lessen. God will slowly replace the pain with hope, love, and eventually joy again. It was October, 2010 at a get-together at Regina's house. We were packed into the kitchen area and a young man in a wheelchair needed to get past. I felt this tap behind me and a strong voice said, "Excuse me but you are in my way". There sat a handsome young man in a wheelchair, who knew exactly what he wanted and how to get it. Reminded me so much of his mom! I have always appreciated frankness and a forthright attitude. We had a nice conversation (after he had reached his destination) and I was fortunate enough to get a glimpse of a fine young man that day.

It was our pleasure to have Chris as a participant in our Special Olympics activities; he was a super wheelchair athlete and gave the competition his all. We have missed his participation in the sports and social club events since his illness. Our loving thoughts go out to his family and friends; may Chris be at peace.
