Obituary of Wayne P Hissim
Wayne P. Hissim, 82, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2017 at Warren Haven Nursing Home, Oxford NJ.
Wayne was born on January 20, 1935 to the late Andrew and Vera (Scharrer) Hissim in Oxford, NJ.
He attended Washington High School graduating in 1951. He was a graduate of Churchman’s Business College. Wayne was a computer supervisor at M&M Mars in Hackettstown for 27 years, retiring in 1989 He was also former Tax Collector of Oxford. He was a member of the former Oxford Lions Club, and the Young at Heart Club. He played basketball for the Oxford Lions Club as well. Wayne played baseball with many known players from the area. He loved to play golf and was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles fan. He was a member of the Oxford Colonial United Methodist Church.
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife Jenny (Poronowicz) of Oxford; sons Wayne and his wife Cindy of Washington, John and his wife Rosemarie of Oxford; brothers Irving of Oxford and Richard of Liberty; and a grandchild, whom he helped raise, Catherine “Katie” and her husband Mike Hoffmann of Oxford; in addition, grandchildren Carol Ann Zipprich, Stephanie Priber, Daniel Ranallo, Stephanie Gregory, Matthew Hissim; great grandchildren Michael and Tyler (Pop’s buddies),k Josh, Danny, Billy, Betty, and Stella . He was predeceased by brothers Marlon, Clayton “Red” and Harvey and sister Betty Helm.
A viewing will be held from 12:30-2 pm on Saturday December 2, 2017 at the DeVoe Funeral Service 136 W. Washington Ave. Washington, NJ with a funeral to follow at 2pm. Internment will be at the Hillside Cemetery in Oxford, NJ.
