Obituary of Walter Burdge

Walter Burdge, 92 of Safety Harbor, FL and formerly of Washington, NJ passed away on Monday, December 10, 2012 at Mease Countryside Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. Walter was born on July 31, 1920 in Washington, NJ. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Amos and Anna ( nee Hassemer) Burdge. Walter was a former Cub and Boy Scout leader, and one of the founding members and past treasurer of the Washington Township Fire Department, Washington, NJ. He was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church of Washington. He is survived his loving wife, Shirley Heiser Burdge of Safety Harbor, FL, three sons, Alan and wife Pat of Nashville, TN, Walter and wife Alana of Bayville, NJ, David and wife Gwen of Washington, NJ, five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Friday, December 14, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the DeVoe Funeral Service, Inc., 136 West Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. A service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home. An interment will be at Pequest Union Cemetery. The DeVoe Funeral Service, Inc. has been entrusted with his arrangements.
