Obituary of Anthony Capizzi
Anthony L. Capizzi, 98, of Hampton, New Jersey passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at the Country Arch Care Center, Union Township, NJ.
Anthony was born on January 14, 1914 in Stockton, New Jersey. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Anthony and Diana (nee Bova) Capizzi.
Anthony served his county during World War II for the United States Army. Upon his death, he was the oldest member of the Hampton Fire Depatment, a retired foreman, and was also a New Jersey State Exempt Firemen. He was a councilman for the borough of Hampton, a member of the John Dolak and American Legion Post #446, Alpha, NJ. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) from 1932-1933. Anthony was the oldest member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Hampton, NJ.
He is prdeceased by his loving wife, Ruth Capizzi in 1996. He is survived by a daughter, Ruthanne Capizzi and son-in-law, Sal Melillo of Hampton, NJ, a sister, Josephine Caputano of Trenton, NJ, and one grandson, Andrew and wife Andrea. He is predeceased by four sisters.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 14, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the DeVoe Funeral Service, Inc., 136 West Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 6 Church Street, Hampton, NJ 08827. A burial will follow in Musconetcong Valley Cemetery, Hampton, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hampton Fire Company, 1 Wells Ave., Hampton, NJ.
