Obituary of Walter Winchurch
Walter Winchurch died January 11, 2017 in his home surrounded by family. He was born March 20, 1919 in Union, NJ; son of the late Thomas and Rose Zimmerman Winchurch.
He served his country with distinction in the US Army during World War II.
He was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Washington, NJ.
Walter retired from American Can Company in 1986 as a printing services supervisor after 49 years of service. He was a recognized expert in the industrial printing process and continued consulting with companies throughout the world well into his nineties.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, golfing, bowling, fishing, gardening, contributing letters to the editor, and traveling worldwide. He owned and operated an apple orchard from 1952-1962.
Walter is survived by a son, Walter, two daughters, Loretta Pilosi and Karen Conroy. He will be greatly missed by his six grandchildren: Alyson, Ryan, Mark, Mary, Kelsey and Emily; and his four great-grandchildren: Jason, Evan, Taylor and Jared who loved their "Beebop" He was predeceased by his wife, Mary, with whom he shared 68 years of marriage at the time of her death in 2010, his daughter Olivia in 1995, two brothers Albert and Robert, and a sister Viola.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 200 Carlton Avenue, Washington, NJ. Cremation and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, think of Walter while playing golf, gardening, or enjoying time at a casino.
