Obituary of George C Lauer Jr.
George C. Lauer Jr., 77, of Belvidere NJ, died November 4, 2018 at St Lukes Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg NJ.
He was born in Oxford NJ, July 14, 1941. George was the son of the late George C Sr. and Lydia (Lusk) Lauer.
George was a machine mechanic at S. Johnson and Sons in Belvidere NJ. He retired for one month twelve years ago. After hating every minute of it, he set back to work.
He had been an Assistant Scout Leader for the Boy Scout troop #141 in Belvidere NJ. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening and prospecting.
A man like George is not measured in dates but in deeds. So, if George ever brought you a basket of tomatoes from his garden, set you out a plate for dinner, helped fix your car or replaced your roof without asking for anything in return, know it was his pleasure to do it. If he made you a bird house, rocking horse or just bought you something small from the flea market because he was thinking of you, please remember it as the kindness of his heart. If he ever let you make your mistakes and then came to you to ask “Do you wnt me to show you how to do that?” – then remember him on his birthday and do something kind and unexpected for another.
George is survived by his son George III of Belvidere NJ, daughters; Claudia Lauer of Philadelphia PA, Heidi Ann Mantzoros and her husband Thomas of Stafford VA, brother; Louis Lauer of Bath PA, sisters Billie DeLorenzo of Oxford NJ, Juanita Werkheiser of Stroudsburg PA, two grandchildren, Thomas and Kayleigh and two great grandchildren, Auden and Copeland.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 36 years, Joan Gero Lauer in 2000, two brothers Frank and Charles Lauer, and two sisters; Cora Wachelka and Sally Radin.
