Obituary of Dale Bamford
Dale E. Bamford, age 84 of Washington Township died on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at home surrounded by his family.
Dale was born on July 21, 1926 in Washington Township, NJ. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs.William and Catherine (Kelson) Bamford.
He was a past Master of the Mansfield Lodge #36 F&AM, Washington, NJ. In addition to the Mansfield Lodge, he also belonged to the Belvidere and Musconetcong Valley Lodges and was a Patron of the Eastern Star #36.
He worked as a long hall truck driver Teamster #469. Dale retired with the Washington Boro Road Department, Washington, NJ in 1988. Dale worked as a Van Driver for Northwest Abilities, Washington, NJ for 22 years.
He was a member of the United States Navy, served during World War II and fought at the Pacific Theatre invasion of Okinawa.
Dale was a member of the United States Army and he was a member of the 82nd Airborne where he made a jump at the Battle of Pork Chop Hill, 1953 during the Korean War.
He was predeceased by his wife, Anne McDaniel of 57 years in 2008. He is survived by his 3 sons; Wayne and wife Charlotte, Joseph and wife Cindy, and Jerry and wife Sheila, 2 brothers; Neil of GA, and William of NY, 1 sister; Fern Ball of PA, and 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by 1 brother; Kay, 3 sisters; Susan Bamford, June Fox, and Betty Roemer.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 15 at DeVoe Funeral Service, Inc. 136 West Washington Avenue, Washington, NJ from 1:00-2:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Memorial gifts may be donated to Abilities for a memorial picnic ground to be built behind the facility, 264 Rte 31 N, Washington, NJ.The DeVoe Funeral Service 136 West Washington Ave, Washington NJ 07882 has been entrusted with his arrangements.
