Obituary of Merla F Sawran
Merla F. Sawran, 100, of Oxford, NJ, passed away peacefully at Sacred Heart Assisted Living in Center Valley, PA.
Merla was born on February 26, 1915 to the late Frank and Nellie (Fox) Hopkins in Oxford, NJ.
She was employed by Tool Press at Oxwall and Tool in Oxford, NJ for 17 years. Prior to that she worked for The Washington Hosiery plant. She was a former Lioness Club of Oxford member. She love to knit and crochet. She had a great love of Polka music. Merla had the great honor of being Oxford Oldest Resident. She was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church in Oxford, NJ.
She is survived by her grandchildren Merla Struble Rossi and her husband William and Margo Rahn and her husband William; great grandchildren Mirisa, David, Melanie and her husband Brian, Kyle, Kevin, Mandie, Tara; great-great grandchildren Mya, Austin, Devin, McKenzie, McKayla and William.
She was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1998; her daughter Janet Struble in 1996; a brother Gerald and a half-brother Russell.
A viewing will be held on Sunday November 8. 2015 from 3-5 pm at the DeVoe Funeral Service 136 W. Washington Ave. Washington, NJ 07882. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 9 at 11 am. Interment will be at the Saint Rose of Lima Cemetery in Oxford, NJ.
