Obituary of Wilson Hager
Wilson “ Junior” Hager -- I can still hear my Uncle saying “ When I die, just have them take me away, I don’t want any fan fare!” Respecting his wishes, we will not be having a service, but when Mark Devoe asked me if we wanted to post an obituary, I thought my Uncle might have wanted a final tribute. He was raised on a beautiful farm in Erwinna, Pa with his parents Victor and Elizabeth Hager and his four sisters Marie, Mildred, Marian and Margaret. He later moved to Milford, NJ where he worked many years for the Riegel Paper Mill. Some thought he was eccentric, I say he was priceless. His robust laughter and whimsical personality will never be forgotten. You never knew when he was joking or serious. He always kept you guessing. At 92 years of age, I believe Uncle found the fountain of youth somewhere along the line. He could have passed easily for 62 with a full head of hair, all his own teeth, 20/20 vision and a golden tan. Even the Doctor in the hospital had to check his chart to make sure he was really 92. Uncle Junior loved the spring, taking a drive in the country, nice cars, Jimmy’s ice cream, Jimmy’s hotdogs, lawn work and beautiful women. Not necessarily in that order. He hated the winter, smoking, television, bills and the fact that the family of his deceased wife Yolanda Hager never acknowledged him in her obituary. Not necessarily in that order. He is survived by his two sisters Mildred Reigle and Margi Snyder and a mixture of thirteen nieces and nephews. We will miss him dearly. Junior passed away peacefully on April 30th, 2016 from complications of a pneumonia at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ.
“ The Day the Lord created hope was probably the same day he created Spring “
Rest in Peace Uncle.
