Obituary of Elizabeth Opdyke
Elizabeth Ann (nee-Hunt) Opdyke, 89, formerly of Washington, NJ died Thursday, June 25, 2009 in the Warren Haven Nursing Home, Oxford, NJ.
She was born August 26, 1919 in Blacklick, PA, a daughter of the late Clifford Hunt and the late Mary Elizabeth (Wolfe) Pfaltzer and the stepdaughter to the late Walter Pfaltzer.
Elizabeth graduated from Washington High School and later was employed by Washington Township as the Registrar for many years. She was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church of Washington and served as an Elder in the Ladies Circle of the church. She had been active in the 4-H club, a former member of the Warren Hills PTA, the Junior Woman's Club. She was a Girl Scout troop leader for many years.
Elizabeth is survived by a daughter, Pamela Opdyke-Womar of Washington, NJ and a son, Walter ""Josh"" Opdyke of New Hope, PA.
In addition to her parents and stepfather, Elizabeth is predeceased by her daughter, Ann Louise who died in 1949 and a sister, Mary Louise Hunt Wheaton Kisse who died in 1985.
Friends may call on the family on Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 am at DeVoe Funeral Service Inc., 136 West Washington Ave, Washington, NJ 07882.
Interment will immediately follow the service in Hackettstown Union Cemetery, Hackettstown, NJ.
