Obituary of Leonard Len Shulman
Leonard I. Shulman passed away peacefully at home on March 30, 2011 after a heroic battle with cancer.
Len was born on December 12, 1946 in Newark, NJ and was the only son of four children of the late Ida and William Shulman. Len spent his childhood years in Linden, NJ where he dated and married his high school sweetheart Dorothy Freeman. The couple raised their family in Washington, NJ.
He leaves behind a wife of 43 years, Dorothy, and sons, Jay Shulman and his wife Tara of Hampton, NJ, Richard Shulman and his wife Rahmi of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and Kevin Shulman and his wife Heather of Monroe, NC. He was lovingly called Pop-Pop by his five grandchildren, Amanda, Alexandra, Collin, Ryan and Connor. He is also survived by his three sisters and their spouses Ann Harris (the late Clethes Harris), Rochelle and Arnold Lubin, & Linda and Wayne Lancaster as well as several nieces and nephews.
Upon graduation from Newark State College he was a math teacher before becoming an insurance broker in 1977. He was the business owner of Northwest Financial in Hampton, NJ.
Throughout his life he has enjoyed many activities like coaching his sons sports teams, being an avid Yankee baseball fan, and quick trips to Atlantic City casinos. Len loved his traditional Fathers Day picnics where family gathered for a fun day in his honor.
Len loved his family and cherished spending time with them. He was a loving and proud father of his three sons. Len loved being an important part of his grandchildrens lives by attending school and sporting events and encouraging them in all they do.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate his life at a visitation on Sunday, April 3rd from 2-6pm at DeVoe Funeral Service, Inc. 136 West Washington Ave Washington, NJ. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 4th at 11am.in the funeral home. Interment in the Montana Cemetery Harmony Twp N.J.
