To the family of Bill Hardenburg, I was deeply saddened to hear of Bill's passing. I have known Bill since we were classmates at HCHS and a neighbor to his sibling, A. Hardenburg. I remember Bill as a fun, friendly individual who was always upbeat whenever we met at class reunions. Please accept my sincere condolences.

My condolences to the Hardenburg Family. Bill was a fine man and wore many hats.I remember Bill back in the 4H days when we showed our dairy cows at the Flemington Fair in the 1950's They were nice times of our lives. I spoke with Bill in February 2009 at the mini class reunion in Clinton before we moved to SC and enjoyed it very much. Bill did so many things alot of us couldn't do like jumping out of bed in the middle of the night to respond to a fire or other emergency. What a tragic loss of a giant teddy bear. I am thankful that I had the chance to get to know Bill. He was a kind, strong, caring man. He blessed the life of my second "Mom" from the beginning. The thing that will always stand out for me regarding Bill is he always had a smile on his face when I would see him. His sense of humor, willingness to help others and love for the Lord stand out to me as his greatest characteristics. Bill and Cathy attended several of my Super Bowl parties where I discovered we shared a love for spicy food.
Many times Bill would invite me to attend his church, Phillipsburg Allience and I would always say "yes we would like to come some day" This Saturday I will have that chance and it will be to honor a great man whome I will greatly miss.
God Bless you Bill, you are with him now, may we take comfort in that knowledge.

My deepest sympathies to the Hardenburg/Van Fossen families through this tragedy. I had the honor of running in to Bill the day following the superstorm, and was able to talk to him for about 10 minutes. I will treasure that conversation forever, and am grateful that I had a chance to talk to him one last time. Bill was a great man whom I will never forget. He was a true friend to me for many years and who has left an impression in everyone whom he has known.
