Obituary of Domenick DeBenedetto
Domenick DeBenedetto died at the age of 92 in his home in Lopatcong Township, NJ. He passed peacefully with his loving wife of 46 years Mary and several other family members by his side. Domenick was born on Dec. 9, 1925, in Newark, NJ. the son of Nicola and Paulina (Dimattise) DeBenedetto.
A beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, & Uncle. He was the last family member of his generation. He was a Navy veteran serving during World War II, he was a Gunners Mate aboard an LCT in the Solomons and Philippines islands of the South Pacific.
While in Newark he worked for Lionel toy company.
He later moved to Oxford NJ. and was employed for 31 years by M&M Mars in Hackettstown, NJ. He was an avid family man with a heart full of love and good humor. Kids loved being around him. He loved to golf and accomplished the elusive Hole In One. He played regularly until 90 years old. He was a lifelong Yankees fan and thoroughly enjoyed a good meal. His Eggplant Parmigiana along with his special hot pepper mix were beyond compare.
His first wife, Persia (Gambucci ) DeBenedetto, predeceased him in 1970.
Domenick is survived by his wife, Mary; her son Albert Piccotti his wife Victoria along with their two children Scott Piccotti and Charissa Piccotti Fanny. His three children, Peter, Paula, and Donald; his grandchildren, Jason, Nikki, Douglass, and Jennie, his great-grandchildren, William Joseph Fanny, Jackson, Sofia, Rosalind, Colin, and Brooklyn.
He will be missed by all whose lives he touched, but leaves a lifetime of good memories.
