Obituary of Jose Alberto Alfonso

Jose Alberto Alfonso, age 67, of Washington NJ, passed on Monday, October 7, 2019 at the Brakeley Park Center in Phillipsburg, NJ. Jose was born January 12, 1952 in Encrucijada, Las Villas, Cuba He is the son of the late Pablo A and the late Esther (Amador) Alfonso. In 1962 Jose along with his family relocated from Cuba to Washington NJ, he graduated from Warren Hills High School Class of 1972. He majored in political science while attending Bloomfield College.

Jose was an avid NY Yankees fan, loved watching the Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson, reading sports and news magazines and learning history. His passion was the love for his family and friends, expressed by his kind heart. He will truly be missed.

Jose is survived by three sisters: Miriam Evans and her Husband Robert of Phillipsburg, NJ, Barbara Alfonso and Mireya Alfonso both of Washington NJ; niece, Heather Vandegrift and wife Amanda; Nephew, Robert Evans Jr and wife Bernie. Also surviving is his Uncle Rolando Amador and his wife Maria and numerous beloved cousins and extended family.

Relatives and friends may gather with the family on Saturday October 12, 2019 from 11:00 am until the start of the service at 2:00 pm at the Knoll-DeVoe Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 142 West Washington Avenue, Washington NJ 07882. Gifts of flowers accepted.
