Obituary of Ruth Boone

Ruth Boone of Washington, NJ peacefully passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at the Brakeley Park Villas in Phillipsburg, NJ. 

Born on April 9, 1927 in Easton Hospital, PA to Clarence and Myrtle Peterson, she was a lifelong resident in Washington Township. She is survived by her husband, Phil Boone, children Linda Robertson of Washington and Alison Whedon and her husband, Royd of St. Petersburg, FL, David Detrick and his wife, Donna of Washington and her sister Carol Jansen and her husband Nick of Nashua, NH. Ruth is also survived seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren ranging from ages 25 years old to 25 days old and several nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her son, Dean Detrick in 1996. 

Ruth said she considered her family the treasures of her life. She loved her home of 93 years, flower gardens, birds and sewing. In the last several years Ruth volunteered her time sewing over 3000 quilt tops for Simple Quilts which were distribution to people in need. She was busy sewing face masks until the day before she died. 

The family would like to thank the caring staff at Brakeley Park Villas for their loving care and support since she moved there a couple months ago. 

Arrangements are being handled by Knoll/Devoe Funeral Home, Washington, NJ. The family will have a private memorial gathering at a future time. Memorial donations can be made to Warren County Habitat for Humanity, 31 Belvidere Avenue, Washington, NJ 07882.
