Obituary of Domenico Ferrara
It is sad to say that Domenico Ferrara passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021. He was 88 years old.
Born in Palma Campania, Italy on September 29, 1932, to the late Antonio Ferrara and the late Carmela Sorrentino. He lived most of his life in the United States after migrating to this country in the early 1950’s with his family and settling in Northwest New Jersey.
Domenico retired from M&M Mars and later residing in Spring Hill, Florida with his beloved wife Maria. They enjoyed many years of retirement in Florida, later moving back to New Jersey to be close with family.
He was a devoted father, brother, and husband. He was hardworking and lived of this earth and died of this earth. His life was filled with gardening and the outdoors starting from his early years in life. He had a green thumb and enjoyed growing various plants and trees. This was his enjoyment and his "happy place" to watch over and care for his plants. He shared his passion and knowledge with anyone who asked and was excited to teach anyone from his life experiences. He was always joking and full of laughs when family gathered, along with sharing many stories with them.
We are sure he is tending to the gardens in heaven and continuing to teach our beloved Andrea in heaven the skill of gardening as they did together on earth.
Domenico is survived by his wife, Maria of 66 years and three sons, Anthony of Hope, Pasquale and his wife Semanda of Le Raysville, PA, and Neil and his wife Margaret of Washington, NJ.
He is also survived by his Sisters Maria Nunziata of San Gennaro, Italy and Anna Giunta of Scottsdale, Arizona along with brothers Pasquale and his wife Colleen and Angelo and his wife Grace of Floral Park, NY as well as many loving great-grandchildren, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, who will truly miss him.
Family and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, between the hours of 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Knoll-DeVoe Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 142 West Washington Avenue, Washington NJ 07882.
