Obituary of Susan Patricia Burkard

Susan Patricia (nee Burghardt) Burkard, age 66, of Washington, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 3, 2021, at Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice located in Fredon Township, NJ. Born on November 18, 1955, in Orange Township, NJ, Susan was the daughter of the late John Frank Burghardt and the late Ethel Theresa (nee Fagan) Burghardt.

Susan was a 1973 graduate of Kinnelon High School. On August 27, 1977, Susan married the love of her life, Edward Joseph Burkard. Together the raised two sons; John and Michael, whom she adored. Susan had faced many challenges throughout her life, and not only fought through them, but also helped others through theirs.  She could strike up a conversation with anyone. Susan loved her life and made the best of it, especially as a wife, mom, and proud grandmother.

Susan had worked as a secretary, spending most of her career at the Bloomfield Police Department.  She had volunteered as a candy striper at the Chilton Medical Center. Susan enjoyed knitting in her free time, but most of all she loved spending time with her precious family.

Susan will be forever missed by her beloved husband, Edward Joseph Burkard, sons; John Burkard and Michael Burkard, grandchildren; Chloe and Justin.

All services will be held privately at this time.
