Obituary of Robin Lee Hissim
Robin “Rob” Hissim, 65, of Allentown, Pennsylvania peacefully passed away on December 24th, 2021, at Lehigh Valley Hospital. Rob was born on November 9th, 1956, at the Easton Betts Hospital to loving parents Dolores and Harvey Hissim. Rob spent his childhood growing up in Oxford, New Jersey and attended Warren Hills Regional High School. At the age of 17 Rob enlisted in the Navy and proudly served his country. Rob became a father and raised his only son Zach whom he adored. Most recently Rob worked for Victaulic as a foundry worker for 38 years, retiring 2 years ago.
Growing up Rob was one of seven siblings and loved having such a big family. At a young age Rob grew an appreciation of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, a pastime he shared with his son. Rob also had quite the work ethic and started working at 14 years old at Hot Dog Johnny’s legendary Buttzville hot dog stand. Rob also had jobs working at Cramer Asphalt and eventually Rob had his own Hot Dog business “Rob’s Dogs” right in Oxford on Route 31. During his time in High School Rob was also an outstanding athlete and was a member of the 1972 undefeated Warren Hills football team, and annually met up with the rest of his teammates to reminisce about the good old days.
Rob enjoyed riding his motorcycle and the freedom he felt cruising the beautiful backroads in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Rob passed his love of motorcycles onto his son Zach, and became a motocross dad, taking Zach all across the country to compete. Rob truly cherished the time he got to spend with Zach on all of their trips. Rob also was blessed to be a grandfather to four beautiful granddaughters, who he simply adored.
Rob will be forever missed by his son Zachary Hissim and his girlfriend Kelly Sponheimer of Allentown, Pa, his mother Dolores Hissim(nee Collins) of Oxford, NJ, brother Edward Hissim and his wife Colleen of North Fort Meyers, FL, brother Andrew Hissim and his wife Patricia of Fernandina Beach, FL, brother Michael Hissim and his wife Alice of Washington, NJ, sister Peggy Hissim of Oxford, NJ, Lt. Col. Joseph Hissim and his wife Jamie of Virginia Beach, VA, brother Jerald of New Hope, Pa, Granddaughters, Myah, Ava, Oaklyn, and Everly, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Rob is predeceased by his father Harvey Hissim and his brother Timothy Hissim.
Family and friends may gather to pay their respects on Wednesday December 29th, 2021, from 9:30am until 11:30am at Knoll-DeVoe Funeral Home & Cremation Service, located at 142 West Washington Avenue, Washington, New Jersey 07882. Following visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12:00pm at Saint Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church at 85 Academy Street, Oxford, New Jersey 07863. Burial will follow in Saint Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Cemetery.
