Obituary of Elizabeth Mary Deemer
Elizabeth “Betty” Deemer, 71, of Phillipsburg, New Jersey passed away peacefully on January 30th , 2023 with her loving husband Russell by her side. Betty was born on September 13 th , 1951 to the late Elizabeth and Andrew Sliker in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. Betty was a graduate of North Hunterdon High School class of 1969. In December of 1978 Betty and Russell were married and began their lifetime of love and happiness together. Betty was a loving mother to her daughter Jennifer and son Kiel. For many years Betty worked as a food service clerk at the Hagedorn Psychiatric Hospital in Glen Gardner, New Jersey.
Betty loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends and sharing laughs and making memories together. She loved watching birds outside and always made sure they were fed. Betty was a big fan of the casino and could get lost among all of the lights and sounds, and could often be found bouncing around her favorite slots whenever she went. Later in life Betty also became quite the reader and could often be found with a book in hand.
Betty will be forever missed by her beloved husband Russell, her daughter Jennifer Byrnes(Jim), son Kiel Deemer(Jessie), grandchildren Althea, Paxton, and James. Betty is also survived by her four sisters Grace Westbrook (Henry), Linda Jacobus(Wyatt), Carol Ann Newell, and Andrea Dilts(Dave), as well as many nieces and nephews.
Betty is predeceased by her parents Elizabeth Sliker and Andrew Sliker and by a sister Muriel Brendel.
Betty’s family would also like to extend their gratitude to the exceptional care that was provided to Betty during her time spent in the ICU at Morristown Medical Center.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Friday February 3 rd , 2023 from 10am until 11am at Knoll-DeVoe Funeral Home and Cremation Service located at 142 West Washington Avenue, Washington, New Jersey, 07882. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Catherine Jordan-Latham officiating. Burial to follow at Spruce Run Cemetery in Glen Gardner, New Jersey.
