Obituary of Diana Lee Boylan

Diana Lee (nee Southwell) Boylan, age 78, of Oxford , NJ, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2024, in Phillipsburg, NJ.  Born November 1, 1945 in Glen Ridge, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy (née Wintermute) and the late Charles Southwell.

Diana was a devoted and loving wife to her late husband, Howard, who she married on November 11, 1978.  Together they raised five children; Jennifer, James, Thomas, Eric, and William, who she treasured.  She was a spectacular mother, always accepting her children’s friends as her own and welcoming them into her home. She was blessed with four grandchildren; Jeffrey, Lars, Hunter, and Geri, who she took great joy in.

Diana was known as an excellent cook, passing down her talent to her children. She could often be found watching her favorite crime shows on tv or reading romance and suspense thriller books. Above all, Diana loved spending time with her family, enjoying family BBQs and spending summers at her family house in Brant Beach, Long Beach Island, NJ, where many precious memories were made. Diana will forever be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

Diana is survived by her sons, James Boylan, Thomas Boylan, and Eric Boylan; her daughter, Jennifer Kain; and her grandchildren, Jeffrey Kain, Lars Haugaard, Hunter Kain, and Geri Kain.

Diana is predeceased by her parents, Charles and Dorothy Southwell; her husband, Howard Boylan; and her son, William Boylan.

Diana is in the care of Knoll-DeVoe Funeral Home & Cremation Service located at 142 West Washington Ave., Washington, NJ. Services will be held privately by her family.
