Obituary of Nathan William Strunk Sr.
Nathan William “Nate” Strunk Sr., 75, a lifetime resident of Hampton, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Sunday June 2nd, 2024. Nate was born in Phillipsburg, New Jersey on July 20th, 1948, to loving parents the late Charles and Doris Strunk. Nate grew up in Hampton and graduated from North Hunterdon High School in 1968. Nate was a loving father to his children Nathan Jr., Charles, Jamie, and Joshua. Nate worked for over 35 years for Conrail and then Norfolk Southern as a locomotive engineer before retiring in 2010.
Nate had many passions throughout his life but one that was near and dear to his heart was his love of racing. Nate was very involved with the Flemington Speedway in its heydays and even owned and raced his own dirt track race car. In more recent years Nate was an active member of the Flemington Speedway Historical Society helping to keep the fond memories of Flemington Speedway alive. Nate also was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting mostly for whitetail deer but occasionally for smaller game like turkeys and rabbits. Nate was a member of the Maine Hunting Club where he would travel to frequently in West Seboeis, Maine. He also enjoyed hopping on the boat and casting a line in Spruce Run Reservoir and reeling in whatever was biting. Nate was also a member of the Freemasons at Host Lodge No. 6 in High Bridge.
Nate will be forever missed by his wife Diana Strunk, son Nathan Strunk Jr. and his wife Carri, son Charles Strunk and his wife Christine, daughter Jamie Strunk, son Joshua Strunk and his wife Stephanie, brother Frank Strunk, sisters Virginia Heft and Maragaret Beavers, companion, Susan Johnson and by 10 Grandchildren and 5 Great-Grandchildren.
Nate is predeceased by his parents Charles Strunk and Doris Strunk.
Memorial visitation for Nathan will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00am with a Service of Remembrance beginning at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 15th, at Faith Discovery Church, located at 33 Brass Castle Road, Washington NJ.
