Alice, Trish & Bill Varney posted a condolence

For more than a half-century, the "Varney Kids" always thought of The Washington Clinic as not just 3 doctors, but in terms of 3 couples: Dr. & Mrs. Varney, Dr. & Mrs. Bartolini, and Dr. & Mrs. Hampton. Now that Mrs. Hampton is the 5th of the 6 people to pass on, an era is truly coming to an end. We recall it fondly. Bill remembers the Hamptons as "the cute, younger, quiet couple," and says Mrs. Hampton smiled very sweetly every time she saw him. Alice remembers Mrs. Hampton "as being a very warm, loving person who always had a smile on her face and who always inquired about us. She also was a friend of Mother, and a very supportive wife." Trish remembers the last time she visited the Hamptons - Mrs. Hampton was in a wheelchair at the time, and Dr. Hampton told Trish how they had met. Trish recalls: "He said he was in college looking out a window and saw her walking on the path below. He said he wanted to meet that cute girl. They smiled at each other when he said that - it was very endearing." And now we bid a fond farewell to Mrs. Hampton. Our hearts go out to Dr. Hampton and the rest of the family at this time. With great affection, Alice, Trish and Bill Varney

As my great aunt, Marian was always interested in my life and supportive of my major life endeavors. I see she led a very full, active life focused on giving and serving, which must have fed her soul deeply. I am inspired by her life and so grateful she was blessed to have the life and loving family she had. I am honored to be a part of her extended family and a thinking lovingly of those most close to her.

Dear Hampton Family, We are so sorry for your loss. Mrs. Hampton treated our family with much kindness, throughout the years. We'll never forget the Sunday she presented Mother's Day flowers to the church, in memory of Penny's grandmother, Althea Pursel. "May just enough of light be thine to cause a glorious sunset." Fondly, Penny and Rik Atkinson

There are not words to express how my Great Aunt Marian touched my life. Although I did not get to see her much in person, the cards and gifts she and Uncle John would send me as a child made a huge difference in my life. Her generosity and attention made a little girl feel important and loved when it was needed most. Thank you Aunt Marian for your true and pure heart, you will be dearly missed.

Dear Hampton Family, The passing of your wife and mom brings tears to my heart and many, many loving memories--church, girl scouts, and especially all the Sunday evening suppers she served ALL of us! Your mom was such a special person and she will live on in my heart and memory, and I know in the hearts and memories of many others whose lives she touched.

Dr. Hampton and girls, We were saddened to learn of the passing of Mrs. Hampton but know that she lived a great life. We lived across the street from you on Kinnaman Ave for 21 years and when our girls were very young we sometimes visited with you on Christmas morning because, Dr Hampton, your girls were grown and you were missing them on that special day. We regret that we will not be able to attend the memorial service, our grandson is graduating from pre-school that morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this difficult time. Treasure the memories that she left you. Love, Carl, Siepie, Karen, Michelle & Barb

I knew Mrs. Hampton since I was little...she was my brownie and then girl scout leader. She was the most caring woman I ever meant. I also went to school with her daugher, Cynthia. No matter how many years passed when I would see her she recognized me and was always so nice. Heaven got another angel today. I offer my condolocences to the family and praying for you all. RIP Mrs. Hampton
