This is Shawn Howlett, an old friend of the Rush family. As I send my condolences for Pat, I must also inform you that my own mother, Bonnie Howlett, passed on Dec. 8 of 2021.
The Rush kids and myself all went to Bethlehem Township Grade School in the 1970's, and my mother Bonnie ran the cafeteria where Pat worked alongside my own deceased aunt Dottie Booze, who left us in 2007.
We all know that our parents would pass one day, but you never ever think about how quickly it creeps up on you- you think it will be "sometime much later" and then one day, you find out that "sometime much later" is actually much sooner than you think.
As I send my sincerest condolences to the family of some of my oldest friends, I also would ask every one of us to stop and smile-if both of our moms are running the cafeteria up in Heaven, you know that God and the Angels are eating very well. So well in fact that the Angels might not be able to fly for a half hour after eating. (smiles.)
All my love to my old friends in the Rush family. May each day of sorrow be replaced with a day of smiles and warm remembrances of Pat and Bonnie, two old friends reunited in eternity.
Very truly yours.
